PARTIES

I released my second single, “Parties,” the summer before my senior year of high school. I wrote “Parties” on New Year's Day of that year. That New Year’s Eve was the first year that I hadn’t gone to a party with my friend group of the past few years because of a particularly painful friendship split. The song walks through the evening and surrounding weeks, with little reminders of the friends, like seeing one friend’s mom at the store. Despite the painful situation, I somehow find acceptance and resolve in the fact that the friendship is over, “I used to go to your parties, but now I go to mine.”
