I made Pains of Growing as my senior thesis film at Brown University. I’ve always been drawn to continuing to tell the stories in my songs through visual means, and I wanted to challenge myself with a more ambitious project for my thesis. Pains of Growing is a six-song visual album that recounts a period of time in my life where I felt I had lost my sense of self. The film consists of six music videos, interwoven with monologues converted from excerpts from my diary and childhood home videos. The film has yet to be publicly released, but the first three singles from the project, “In My Bones,” “Best Friend,” and “Pity Party,” and the “Best Friend” music video are out everywhere now.
