ABOUT

I wrote “In My Bones” with Breydon Beggs, who also produced the song. The song was written as a finale song for the visual album I made as my senior thesis film at Brown. For a lot of the songs on that project, it was my first time writing about things retrospectively and tapping into emotions that I wasn’t currently feeling. I wrote “In My Bones” based off of a diary entry I made in summer of 2024 when I was living in Nashville. That summer marked the end of a year and a half of my life where I felt like I had completely lost my identity. I was struggling with a lot of things—a feeling that I had lost passion for what I loved, that I wasn’t as good at anything as I used to be. I was comparing my current self with a romanticized version of who I used to be, and I had no idea how to stop. The diary entry that “In My Bones” is based on was my first step towards really feeling like myself again.

In that diary entry, I wrote down all of the things that I love, all of the things that make me who I am. When I listed everything out on the page, it was like I could see myself in one piece again. I was so caught up in what the world was throwing at me that I forgot to just breathe and do what I love. The chorus of “In My Bones” is lyrically based off of that diary entry. The whole song describes what that journey of finally being myself again felt like.
